Licensing

Don't buy the company. License the code.

Builders keep ownership and sell non-exclusive licenses under standard, versioned agreements. Buyers get working code with a clear scope of use.

Three standard licenses

Every license on BuildMarket uses one of these templates. Sellers set the price, support and deliverables; the legal text is the same for everyone and versioned. Platform fee 15%.

v1

Agency License

  • Deploy for multiple clients (up to the stated number of client deployments)
  • Modify and white-label for each client
  • No resale of the source as a product
  • Support and updates as stated in the listing
v1

Extended Commercial License

  • Unlimited deployments within the Licensee's own products
  • Use in products sold to end users
  • No resale of the source itself
  • Broadest standard grant available on BuildMarket
v1

Commercial Starter License

  • Use the licensed software in one commercial product or internal project
  • Modify the source for your own use
  • No resale or redistribution of the source

Questions, answered

What do I get?

The deliverables the seller lists (usually a source archive, setup guide, sometimes design files), a license key, and the signed agreement text. Downloads are private and expire.

Can I resell it?

Not as-is. Starter and Agency licenses forbid redistributing the code as a template. Extended lets you build and sell products on top of it. Read the template before buying.

How is the seller paid?

By card through Stripe. BuildMarket takes the license fee; the rest goes to the seller's connected Stripe account.

Refunds?

Digital goods: refunds are handled case by case within 14 days if the deliverables materially differ from the listing. See the refund policy.
