How it works

From “I built a thing” to “it sold” without becoming a marketer.

BuildMarket turns a project into verified signals, signals into a valuation, and a valuation into whatever you want next. You are never pushed to sell.

Free to list. Pay only when you sell. Seller report: $39 one-time, credited back when it sells.

From a folder on your laptop to money in your account

  1. 01

    Drop your project

Drop the folder, upload a ZIP, connect GitHub or add the live URL. Dependencies and secrets stay on your machine; the code is inspected statically in isolated storage, never executed.

  2. 02

    We understand and present it

Stack, features with evidence, maturity, security and rebuild cost. Real screenshots of the running product. A buyer-ready sales page written from the facts.

  3. 03

    Get the seller report

A BuildScore out of 100, a value range with a confidence level, suggested prices and the selling strategy. $39 per project, credited back when it sells.

  4. 04

    Sell, auction or license

One click creates the listing from the seller package. Fixed price with offers, a 7-day auction, or licenses you sell again and again. Listing is free; we earn when you do.

1. Understanding, not guesses

Drop the folder or connect GitHub (read-only), add a live URL, connect a revenue provider. Every input is labelled Verified, Seller reported or BuildMarket analyzed, and buyers see the label too.

2. A number with a range

A deterministic engine applies transparent rules: revenue multiples for revenue products, replacement cost and traction for pre-revenue ones. You get low / base / high, a confidence rating and a BuildScore.

3. Your call

Keep building and track value. Or list at a fixed price, run a 3–14 day auction with anti-snipe protection, or sell non-exclusive licenses to the code.

What BuildMarket analyzes

Dozens of signals. Every one labelled.

Data read from connected accounts is marked verified. Numbers you type are marked seller reported. Our own observations are marked BuildMarket analyzed. Buyers always know which is which.

BuildScore

One number buyers can trust

Every analyzed project gets a BuildScore from 0 to 100, built from five components of 20 points each. Verified inputs strengthen confidence but never inflate value on their own. For pre-revenue products, traction is weighted on users, waitlists and audience instead of revenue.

  • Product — completeness, live status, onboarding, docs
  • Technology — tests, CI, hygiene, maturity, security
  • Traction — revenue, growth, churn, users
  • Business — model, margin, workload, channels
  • Transferability — docs, config, deploy, domain, licensing

When something sells

  1. 01
    Deal agreed

An accepted offer, a won auction or Buy Now creates a deal. Both parties accept the purchase agreement.

  2. 02
    Buyer funds escrow

The buyer pays the third-party escrow provider directly. BuildMarket never holds acquisition funds.

  3. 03
    Assets transfer

A structured checklist walks the seller through repository, domain, hosting and app-store transfers. Nothing is transferred as a whole account.

  4. 04
    Buyer confirms, funds release

After inspection the buyer confirms receipt. Escrow releases funds; the success fee is settled through the escrow structure.

Security & verification

Built like a financial marketplace

Trust is the product. We designed BuildMarket around verified data, independent escrow and defense in depth — and we document what remains.

Read the marketplace rules
  • Acquisition funds never touch our servers — a regulated escrow provider holds them
  • Uploads are inspected statically in isolated storage, never executed, and deleted after the retention window
  • Screenshots are scanned for personal data and keys before you approve them
  • Read-only integrations with minimum scopes; credentials encrypted at rest
  • Two-factor authentication, immutable transaction log, fraud detection on bids and listings
  • Model output is schema-validated and never sets a price, a score or a permission

Questions, answered

What happens when I drop my project?

Your browser skips dependencies, build output, media and secrets, zips the rest and streams it to isolated storage. We inspect it statically (never run it), detect the stack, features, maturity, security and rebuild cost, render the live product for real screenshots, and write a sales page from those facts. The raw upload is deleted after the retention window; only the analysis stays.

Is the analysis free?

Dropping a project, the full code analysis and the screenshots are free. The seller report — value range, BuildScore, every adjustment, suggested prices, strategy and the seller package — is $39 per project, and it is credited against the success fee when the project sells. Listing, auctions and buyer accounts are free.

My project has no revenue. Is it worth anything?

Often, yes. Pre-revenue products are valued on replacement cost, completeness, technical quality, users, waitlists, domain and how easy they are to transfer. We deliberately avoid inflated numbers: trust matters more than an exciting figure.

Do you hold the money when I sell?

No. Buyer funds go directly to an independent, regulated escrow provider. Funds are released to the seller after the buyer confirms the transfer. Our fee is settled inside the escrow transaction.

What exactly is sold?

Specified digital assets and associated rights: code, domain, apps, brand, data where lawful. Not company shares, securities, tokens or fractional ownership.

Do you read my private code?

Only what you give us: a dropped folder, a ZIP or the repositories you explicitly select read-only. We inspect statically — nothing is executed on our servers — and store derived metrics, never a full copy beyond the short retention window. Buyers never see private code.

What does BuildMarket charge?

Success fee of 5% on sales under $100,000 (4% from $100,000 and 3% from $500,000). 15% on license sales. $39 per seller report, credited back when the project sells. Optional featured placement. No buyer fees.
